In a long offseason that is filled with questions of who will be resigned to the Kings after their early playoff exit at the hands of the San Jose Sharks, GM Dean Lombardi has his hands full on who to resign for the 2016-17 season. One of those players is big bad enforcer Milan Lucic, who proved to be a great asset for the Kings last season, scoring 55 points in 81 games played.
Lucic is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1. The veteran winger has expressed interest of staying in LA. Lucic and the Kings are more than likely to sit down and discuss a new contract offer. The winger has provided that big body that the Kings base their hard-hitting defense off of.
Lucic seemed to fit in with head coach Darryl Sutter‘s style of play right away. Even though the Kings early elimination in the playoffs prevented Lucic from finding his playoff stride, the obvious factor is that Lucic has his mind set on LA and awaits Lombardi to come forth with a new deal.
Daryl Sutter To Remain Los Angeles Head Coach
According to Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times, Sutter agreed to a new deal with the Kings. An official announcement should be made tomorrow.
